Visa on arrival - All about it

No, there is no hidden charge.

There are only 2 types of fees consisting of “Service fee” and “Stamping fee”. Official Vietnam Visa collects the visa service fee in order to process your approval letter. All the transactions are transparent.

Visa on arrival is a type of visa that you can complete all procedures online and pick up Vietnam visa when you arrive Vietnam airport. It has granted by Vietnam Immigration of Department since 2003 and seems to be the most simple way to have Vietnam visa without chasing-down to Vietnam embassy.

All you need to do is fill in our Application Form , pay for the service fee, receive the pre-approval letter via email and pick up your visa at one of three Vietnam International airports (Hanoi, Danang, Ho Chi Minh city).

That is easy, you just need follow 4 simple steps to complete application form.

Step 1: Fill in the Application Form with exact private details (your name, date of birth, nationality, passport number and arrival date).

Step 2: Review applicant details and make payment for the service fee. Note that we only process your visa once payment is made.

Step 3: Wait 2 working days (or shorter time in urgent case) for the pre-approval letter delivered to your inbox, print it out and prepare all required documents before you board on the plane.

Step 4: Upon arrival at the airport by presenting all required document. Remember to bring at least 2 photos (passport size), 45 USD/person for stamping fee (1 month single) or 65 USD/person for multiple entry. Expect the process to take about 15 - 20 minutes without any hassle.

For normal processing, it takes 2 business days to get the pre-approval letter via email.

In urgent case, visa is processed for around 4 - 8 business hours depending on the time you apply. You can go this page see more details about time and fee for urgent visa.

Note: All visa cannot be processed in weekend ( Saturday, Sunday and Vietnam Holidays), so please plan your schedule accordingly.

The visa desk at Vietnam airport is open 24/7, so you can enter anytime (if you have the visa approval letter already).

The pre-approval letter is a document allowing you to board on the plane to Vietnam and pick up your visa at Vietnam airport.

Yes, it is.

By using Vietnam visa on arrival service, you will receive the Letter of Approval which is issued by Vietnam Immigration Office with red stamp on it. So it is a legal document accepted by all airlines.

No, visa on arrival is applicable for air travel only. It does not work for land/border crossing or sea.

You can use the approval letter to get Vietnam visa at one of three Vietnam airports including: Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) and Danang Airport (Da Nang).

Note: If you enter Vietnam by land or cruise, kindly visit the nearest Vietnam embassy to get your visa.

Visa information, requirements and tips

In common, you do not have to send your passport in order to apply Vietnam visa on arrival. However, in some special cases the Immigration officer requires a passport scan to verify your information, so you will need to do.

Yes, you will need prepare at least 2 photo in passport size to stick on the Entry/Exit Form.

There is chance to have your photos taken at Vietnam airport, however, that may cause delay to your visa process.

Photo requirements

If your passport has already expired, you cannot apply Vietnam visa on arrival. It required the passport has more than 6 months validity from your date of exit.

You will need to renew your passport before applying visa.

No, it is not necessary. When applying, you can provide the date earlier than your planed arrival date, then you can enter Vietnam later.

For example: Your actual arrival date is 10-May-2013, you can apply and provide your arrival date is 09-May-2013 or earlier.

When you arrive at Vietnam airport, you will see the "Landing Visa" or "Visa on Arrival". Go straight there, present your approval letter, passport, photos, pay the stamping fee for Immigration officer and wait 15 - 20 minutes for the visa stamped on your passport.

You can apply for this visa 6 months in advance. However, it is strongly recommend you to apply 1 - 2 weeks before your departure date to avoid hassle.

Visa fee, payment options and problems

If you wish to cancel your application, you will need to immediately contact us within 4 hours once the payment is made.

After that, we are unable to cancel and refund money back to you since the visa application is under processing.

It depends on the type and length of the visa when you apply. In general, 1 month single entry will cost you 15 USD for service fee to get approval letter and 25 USD for the stamping fee at Vietnam airport.

There are 2 fees that you will need to pay: Service fee (you will need pay in advance) and Stamping fee (pay directly at Vietnam airport). The details of fee can be found here.

The stamping fee is the fee that you will need to pay directly for Immigration officer at Vietnam airport in order to get a full visa. The details of fee below:

25 USD for single entry (1 or 3 month)
50 USD for multiple entry  (1 or 3 month)

The stamping fee must be paid in cash, no credit card is accepted. There is a chance to withdraw cash at Vietnam airport, however, that may cause delay to your visa process.

Other Problems and Concerns

No, there is no difference between children and adults. You will need visas for your children either on their own passport or on your passport, the procedures and fee is the same.

Once the approval letter is issued by Immigration Office, it cannot be changed any information stated on the letter.

We are just able to modify your information if you notify us within 4 hours at the time of submission.  After that, you will need re-apply for a new visa.

You should check carefully the information you provided before making the payment.

No, you cannot.

Without the approval letter, you are not allowed to board the plane and not pick up your visa at Vietnam airport. Please spend few minutes online to apply visa on arrival before you start your itinerary.

There are 2 ways to check your visa status:

1. Keep in touch with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to get the certificate of visa exemption for 5 years. You can contact them to apply directly, or do it online a bit simpler here:

2. Apply visa on arrival online and pick up your full visa at Vietnam airport.

Below is the list of things you will need to prepare before entering Vietnam.

- Print-out of your pre-approval letter.
- The passport with more than 6 months of validity.
- Passport should have at least one blank page where the visa sticker can be placed.
- Cash to pay for the Stamping fee at Vietnam airport (45 USD - for single entry, 65 USD - for 1 month multiple entry, 95 USD for 3 months multiple entry).
- 2 recent-taken photos with regular passport size.

When you arrive at the airport of Vietnam, you will see "Landing Visa" counter or "Visa On Arrival" desk before you check out. Go straight there, show the all the things above for checking on the system, then wait for your visa stamped on your passport.
