Vietnam is a rapidly growing economy, with investors all over the world looking forward to investing in the country, and leveraging the fast-growing nature of the economy. Apart from business, which constitutes the major reason for people traveling to Vietnam, tourism, study, permanent residency, etc. have been some other equally important reasons why Vietnam has turned into a hotspot for people across the globe.
In this view, lately, Vietnam has adopted quite a liberal immigration policy, allowing people to apply for a Vietnam visa directly with the Vietnamese embassy/ consulate situated in their respective country. It takes around 4 to 10 days for Vietnam visa to process. Besides applying with the Vietnamese embassy/ consulate, travelers intending to travel to Vietnam can also apply for a visa on arrival through a travel agent (for instance, OfficialVietnamVisa), obtain the visa approval letter, and then get the actual visa stamped at one of the Vietnamese airports. To ensure a strict adherence towards Vietnam’s immigration policies, the concerned immigration authorities ensure that travelers arriving in Vietnam possess the required documents, including the passport, visa approval letter (in case of visa on arrival), or actual stamped visa (in case if applied through the embassy/ consulate before arrival), etc.
However, immigration policies come with a certain set of rules and regulations. It is important for travelers intending to travel to Vietnam to know the following rules and regulations pertinent to Vietnam’s immigration policy.
Should you lose your passport, or in case it is stolen, it is imperative to report the theft or the loss to the ward, or the commune, wherein the theft or the loss has taken place. Besides, it is also important to connect with the diplomatic authorities, the embassy/ consulate of your respective country to submit a request for a new passport, or an alternate document that would serve as a temporary passport. Nevertheless, in such a case, you will have to apply for a new Vietnam visa.
In case a foreign national stays in Vietnam for over a year, and intends to stay beyond it, he/she would be required to apply for a temporary residence card. The temporary card would be issued by the authorized provincial authority/ office that manages the entry and exit under the Ministry of Public Security. The validity of such a card is from 1 year to 3 years.
In case the traveler wants to change his/ her purpose of the visit after his/ her arrival in Vietnam, it is necessary that the change is approved by the concerned organizations, agencies, individuals, as a guarantee. Later, the purpose conversion process could be completed at the Vietnam Immigration Office, or Police Immigration Management of Cities/ Provinces under the Central Authority, by submitting the approval/ guarantee given by the concerned organization, agency, or the concerned individual.
To get a Vietnam visa issued, extended, modified or supplemented for a temporary resident certificate, travelers will have to produce the required documents to the Vietnam Immigration Office, or the Police Immigration Management of Cities/ Provinces under the Central Authority. In case, a foreign national applies for an extension, modification, or visa issuance through a travel agent, the travel agent, on behalf of the customer, will have to produce the necessary documents to the Vietnam Immigration Department.
